Chris Field Music
Imagine a place devoid of time and space. Our sensations are so tied to what we see and experience that it's difficult to envision such a place. Our most primal sensations derive from what we hear, because sound is all around us. Music has an ability to pervade our mind, to transcend what we feel is tangible. Compared to what we see, music is other-wordly; it belongs to us and, at the same time, exists in that sub-conscious space between reality and fantasy.
Chris Field is an LA-based musician whose works cannot be put into one genre. Emotional, ambient, cinematic, world music: all these words and more can be ascribed to his unique sense of musical identity. Chris Field music has the rare ability to truly provoke emotion, whether your ears want to hear it or not. At times uplifting and resonate, at times desolate, his unique blend of sensibilities manages to fill the listener with indescribable feeling.
"Powerful" is a good adjective to describe Chris Field music. There are some tracks in his new LP, Sub-Conscious, that could be used as a backdrop to all our lives, at one point or another. His music can exist but not detract, and that's a difficult thing to accomplish.
Other tracks immediately take hold of your mind, and don't let go. You can choose to actively listen or simply play it in the background; it works on both levels. It would be incorrect to label Chris Field music as simply movie music, although there's a good chance you've already heard one of his works as the score to some of today's most popular movie trailers, like The Lord Of The Rings. Difficult to describe, easy to love: that is Chris Field music.
