Music for Movies

Music that falls within a specified genre is easy to review: by referencing previous works, it is easy to get a feel without actually listening. But Chris Field music for movies is different. His unique compositions and arrangements cannot be categorized as easily as, for example, a blues artist. Incorporating elements as diverse as cinema scores, Celtic vocal arrangements, electronic techno beats, and classical guitars, Chris creates a unique musical landscape, and one that leaves the listener begging from more.

The most fitting way to describe Chris Field music is to call it music for movies or music for movie trailers. It could also be labeled a fantasy work. (It is, thankful to say, not of this earth.) Sub-Conscious, his newest CD, is a beautiful collection of pieces, which can be conceptualized as a whole (as a concept album) or individually.

Chris Field is mainly known for his music for movies, so it should come as no surprise that Sub-Conscious is full of emotional strategies used to evoke responses such as love, passion, jealousy, suspense, and elation. Chris Field music for movie trailers is inspired by the elements of fantasy and the unknown. At times light and airy, and at times deep and mysterious, Sub-Conscious takes the listener through a range of emotions in its eight remarkable tracks. Some tracks on Sub-Conscious, like Blank, are triumphant and cheerful. Other tunes, like "Ave Maria," alternate between uplifting and pensive tones. Emotionally speaking, Chris Field music is fantasy music which can be conceived in our world.

Because of its uniqueness, Sub-Conscious is timeless. Sub-Conscious is an excellent example of music that is created to inspire its listeners. It is music to make you think, to ponder, to contemplate. It's quite difficult to create fantasy music that succeeds on its own, that is to say without the aid of a movie to highlight its emotional tricks. Sub-Conscious manages to do just that.
